The company’s first Substation Renovation project with the Electric Power Board (EPB) of Chattanooga took place at the Sidney Street substation, where JBrennon was called in for a crucial maintenance assignment. While the scope of work was relatively straightforward, the protocol required extreme precision due to the sensitive electrical gear housed within the facility. JBrennon’s top priority was to protect this vital equipment and operate safely around it throughout the renovation process. Completed in two mobilizations over the course of two weeks and closely supervised by EPB’s on-site electrical engineer, the Substation Renovation involved the demolition of the existing TPO roof, construction of new crickets, and installation of a new TPO roof system complete with insulation, coping, and flashing. Exterior upgrades included full repainting of the structure, which necessitated the temporary removal of select sections of the chain-linked security fence. JBrennon also replaced outdated building windows with new, energy-efficient storefront glass. Interior improvements were completed with the installation of new ceiling tiles in the existing grid system and fresh paint applied to all interior walls. This Substation Renovation showcases JBrennon’s ability to execute technically sensitive upgrades efficiently, while maintaining safety, compliance, and exceptional workmanship.
