JBrennon was tasked by its client to mill, strip, and excavate unsuitable soils and provide a new sub-grade for receipt of new asphalt outside of its parking deck board the Morgantown campus. Due to traffic disruption, JBrennon spent one month planning the closure and work operations to accomplish all of the work within five days. Further, all work was performed in accordance with the latest WVDOH road and bridge specifications. The scope of work comprised provision of traffic control; saw cutting and excavation of the area slated for full depth repair; fill and grade the sub base with stone; mill to 2” depth; mill around drainage features in parking lots to promote positive drainage toward drainage structures; mill around curbs to promote positive drainage toward drainage structures; mill around valve and manholes to promote positive drainage; ,mill to provide adequate curb reveal; mill transition areas; remove and Reinstall curb stops; install 3” of compacted base course asphalt; install 2” compacted Wearing Course; seal joints between paving lanes; re-stripe the drive through and pavement markings. JBrennon saved the government over $25,000.00 on this project by validating through engineering and testing that much of the sub-grade could remain based upon established compaction in the area.
